a thread about the TV show, I mean. There may have been a thread previously, but I’m interested in what current viewers (if any) think of how it’s going.
Yes, it’s a soap & a guilty pleasure - but I’m enjoying it. the most recent episode was a bit of a let-down. not much happened other than the real Emily Thorn refusing to be sent to Paris.
It’s a soap for our times - look the ridiculously rich at the Hamptoms are as miserable as us! and I do like the intricate (for TV) plotting. while it’s no Count of MOnte Cristo, it keeps me coming back.
It’s watchable, but I wouldn’t particularly care if it didn’t get renewed.
It’s my favorite new show of the year. I don’t know what it is, but I love it!
I don’t get how quickly Emily’s friend, the British planner, has turned on her. It seems contrived.
I’m enjoying it, but I’m a little confused. Maybe that’s because I’m only about three episodes in. Does it ever get explained why the PTB wanted to frame Emily’s father in the first place? Or how it could possibly be explained what would motivate a member of American royalty to funds terrorists? It just doesn’t add up.
They’ve been hinting at it that Ashley (I think that’s her name) was secretly trying to finagle her way into the elite A-list rather than just be a toadying “personal assistant” to Victoria. At least I have always assumed that while “Emily” was feigning being friends with Ashley in order to secretly advance her revenge masterplan on Victoria, Ashley was always just feigning friendship with “Emily” in the hopes of getting in good with the beautiful people crowd. That way, it (however slightly) vindicates “Emily” of using her as a patsy, which she has several times already.
I’ll throw a complete WAG out as to how I think this first year’s storyline will evolve - eventually Victoria will discover that “Emily” is really Amanda. “Emily” will come to the point of pulling off her masterplan, exposing Victoria, but by that time will have genuinely fallen in love with Daniel (Victoria’s son.) Therefore, “Emily” will ultimately choose not to expose Victoria, fearing how it will impact Daniel. For reasons that I haven’t worked out yet, Jack (perhaps prodded on by Tyler) will shoot & kill Daniel (as depicted in the flash-forward first scene of the series.) Victoria will blame “Emily” for setting in motion all the events leading to Daniel’s death, and next year will be all about Victoria’s fiendish plans to get revenge on “Emily.”
As to your first question, I believe the Graysons framed Emily’s dad in order to disengage their own culpability and prevent going to jail themselves. I suspect it’s going to play out that the funding of terrorists was a lucrative although ethically shady business deal that Emily’s dad either a) had no knowledge of or b) knew about and strongly recommended against it or perhaps even threatened to go to the authorities with information about it.
Ah, that makes sense. So essentially their friendship itself was contrived by both parties.
Wow, Jack shooting Daniel? I’m not sure how I feel about that. But I would totally vote for you pursuing a writing job on some prime-time soap opera.
At first I thought Jack shot Daniel. I just went and read the plot synopsis for the first episode. It takes pains to say that Jack pulled him out of the water, not that he shot him. I also rewatched the opening scene. The hand holding the gun was in a glove. When Jack pulls Daniel out, he is not wearing gloves. Emily does, however, brush some sand off her hand after she runs it along the ice sculpture.
Maybe the crazy real Emily shoots him. Out of some twisted kind of jealousy. She’s definitely more attached to ‘our’ Emily than is normal.
Yeah I could see this.
Just my WAG, but what are the chances that Daniel is really Emily’s half-brother (Victoria having had an affair with Emily’s dad)?
Oh no way. Not on network TV. They’re sleeping together!!!
how about a little 'Revenge"
well he’s back
Great title/username.
