Why doesn’t anyone put automatic doors on restrooms? I’m sure they’re more expensive, but the clientele would surely appreciate it. At least in “nicer” places. I don’t expect the dive bar down the street to be installing them anytime soon.
I’m hardly a germophobe but I try to avoid restroom door handles when I can, and I’ve yet to see one with an automatic door. I would just think it was the coolest thing. Thoughts?
Through a little creative architecture, it’s not at all difficult to simply not have doors on restrooms, which is even better. Doors that aren’t there never break down.
Not having doors requires larger and better ventilated restrooms in order to maintain privacy and stop smells from carrying.
I’d definitely prefer restrooms where you pull the door to get in, but can push the door open from the inside.
Nothing I hate more than to wash my hands and then have to grab the same knob or handle that 10,000 other people who used their hands to wipe their ass and didn’t wash up afterwards have been using.
Especially in “paperless” restrooms with the damned blowers where you don’t have the option to grab a paper towel to open the door with.
Yeah, that works too. I’ve always had a bit of a Stark Trekkie fantasy where doors everywhere, interior and exterior, were all automatic and made that pleasant swooshing sound.
As I’ve noticed, at least, most public restrooms are in corners of restaurants/businesses where sliding doors are impractical (take up too much space on the sides). An automatic door that swings open like a regular door is possible, but would be kind of dangerous. I think something like you see in most restaurants here would be better. Put a sink outside the restroom so the patron can wash his hands after dealing with the icky door handle.
