With the release of all the new coins, (quarters, nickels) what if we had our own personal coins minted? Granted, it may cost a lot to make, but that cost could be put back to those buying them. I think it would be neat to have a nickel with “Joe Blow, Jr. - Trust no one - 2004” around the edges. Of course the front would still be the standard, but the back can have whatever you want about yourself. You can mint 1000 of them at a time. You think the treasury could cash in on this? Or would it be too expensive to make?
Look, I had to work the 4th and am working today when everyone else has the day off, so I’m really just bored and thinking of crazy stuff.
This isn’t EXACTLY what you’re looking for…but at least one company will make custom designs for elongated coin/squished penny mills. If you want a souvenir coin for your wedding or anniversary, these people can make the die which will enable you to crank out your designs.
Hmmmm, on reading the site, it appears that they’re not actively doing this right now. Still, I imagine that someone else offers the service, it’s just that I KNEW about the Luck E Penny page. http://www.wcmassey.com/lep/index.htm
It would be neat to have a two-dollar coin with Sunspace and a rising-sun logo on the “reverse” side and Canada - 200x and the picture of the Queen on the “obverse”…
