How are NYC subway cars placed in service?

How are subway cars placed into the NYC subway system? Is there a track connection between Metro-North (or Amtrak) and the subway? If so, where would it be?

I would think there is a connection to the bronx train yards to the conrail/amtrak system. Also there is a mysterious LIRR track section south of the brooklyn line that has to run somewhere.

Currently, the R142A and R143 Kawasaki cars are being delivered by flatbed truck to the 207th Street Yard in Manhattan . . .

The Bombardier R142 cars are being delivered by train from their facility in Plattsburgh, New York, via Oak Point Yard in the Bronx. They are towed over the Hell Gate Bridge and onto the Bay Ridge branch of the LIRR, where there is a connection to the IRT Livonia Avenue line in Linden Yard . . .

I’ve seen a subway car being delivered on a truck while I was riding on I-80 in New Jersey. It was definately a double-take moment.
