How are rings sized? I can measure the circumference of my finger, how does that measurment convert to a ring size?
Thats about all.
As an aside, how do people remove a titanium ring from a swollen finger? Titanium is among the hardest metals around, and I suspect that any cutter would go dull when trying to cut a quantity of titanium.
As a machinist I’ve worked with a lot of titanium. It’s pretty soft to cut and sort of springy. A lot like aluminium.
It’s reputation for being strong is when it’s used in place of steel. For it’s weight it can’t be beat. Steel is stronger and harder, but a lot heavier.
You see things like titanium coated drills. Really that’s a TiN coating. (Titanium Nitrite.) How it helps keep a tool sharp is from the lubricity of the coating. The chips slide away from the tool and helps protect the cutting edge. Giving you longer tool life.
