How best to store sticky (glutinous) rice?

I’ll be cooking some sticky rice tonight, and I would like to be able to store some so I can take it with me to work tomorrow and reheat it with some chicken. What’s the best way to keep it without it getting mushy or dried out?

How are you going to re-heat it?

Probably a microwave. Unfortunately, that’s the only thing available at work.

Freezing in a ziploc bag actually works pretty well. You talking about just sticky rice or omochi? Freezing and microwaving in ziploc work pretty good for both.

Thanks cali!

Guess I should clarify, with omochi you can freeze and store it in ziploc, but should probably remove it from the bag and place it on a dish before microwaving. Plain old frozen sticky rice microwaves pretty well in the bag.

If it’s just one night, you should do fine covering it with saran wrap and sticking it in the fridge. Microwave is actually a fine way of reheating rice. Throw a few drops of water into the bowl and nuke it, covered, for a while.

To clarify, I haven’t actually tried freezing it, so perhaps that method gives you moister rice upon reheating. Anybody?
