According to official Marvel canon how big is The Hulk supposed to be in term of height and weight?
How BIG is he? Hell, they can’t even agree on what COLOR he’s supposed to be…
Hasn’t the dude always been green?
7 feet tall, weighing in around a half ton.
No offense, but you’re joking, right? I’m, at very best, a casual comic fan, and know that he has been gray during at least two periods in “history.”
hrh
The height of the hulk is variable. In fact there are many, many different Hulks that all represent different parts of Mr Banner’s F’d up mind. The Green hulk that we all know and love is supposed to be the infantile Hulk. The first Hulk was grey and was the adolescent Hulk, with the intelligence of an adolescent.
I was actually quite serious there I guess I’m pretty ignorant when it comes to comics…
CelticCowboy there is an obvious erro with that page. Although it lists different weights, eye and hair colours for Hulk and Banner, it only has one height: 5’ 9".
Has the Hulk recently been washed in warm water?
Blake - read the last sentence on that page - it refers to the Hulk as a “seven-foot monster”…
5’ 9" is Banner’s height.
Thanks. I missed that.
I wpould have thought he was taller than that. Captain America and thor are both 6 footish and the Hulk always towers over them.
I wonder why they posted both Hulk and Banner’s weight, hair and eye colour, but only Banner’s height?
Its hard to exactly state the Hulk’s weight. He often slouches, and he’s never quite gone out to the doctor to get measured, y’know?
Ahem, that’s Doctor Banner.
Don’t piss him off.
As an afterthought, I should point out that the Hulk is never actually big enough to split his pants.
I think I’ve heard (from Stan Lee) that they never really considered that his pants should’ve split. They just sort of left that out. If they did, of course, they’d have to draw his jolly green giant, which would scare all the children away.
So don’t use that as an idea of how big he really is.
I thought his anger regulated his size. At his angriest, he has been up to 15 feet, I think.
How does the Hulk’s skull grow proportionately? Does the Hulk’s skeleton expand to accomodate the increase in size and musculature?
How come the Hulk’s pants always turn purple, does the Hulk love drinking grape Kool-Aid?
It’s always been pretty ill-defined such that now it’s a mostly a matter of the artist’s interpretation (influenced by the mood of the scene in which Hulk appears).
Throughout most of the Hulk’s first decade he was pretty consistently about 8 feet tall. By the 70’s, his height was more fluid (again, usually changing at the artist’s whim). Unlike his height, the Hulk’s intelligence and behavior, OTOH, were quite inconsistent. Some writers made him a near-mindless engine of destruction, some made him a childlike innocent who didn’t understand his own strength, some made him of regular or near-regular intelligence but more interested in being a thug than in doing anything constructive. (Indeed, when written by co-creator Stan Lee, Hulk would often flip from one extreme to another within a single issue.)
When Peter David took over the Hulk in the mid-80’s, he reviewed these inconsistencies (both mental, behavior, and physical) and retconned them into various facets of Banner’s personality, each of which could animate the body and create a different kind of Hulk. There was the big green childlike Hulk (who towered over people), the thuggish gray Joe Fixit (who was no taller than a tall man), and the Mindless Hulk who could be huge.
In later years, the size has again been mostly at the artist’s whim.

And in the movie, the magger Hulk gets, the bigger Hulk gets. He clearly goes from seven feet to fifteen feet in some scenes.
well, I would say 14 inches but more if he gets madder…
For a complete size comparison of all the different incarnations of the Hulk by comicbook standards go here:

fascinating reading.
So, if Bruce Banner weighs in at 128 pounds, and the Hulk weighs in at 1040 pounds, as that webpage claims, then –
Where does the extra mass come from when Banner transforms into the Hulk? Does he take a really really really deep breath or something?
