Which two?!?! (bikini colour is a fine descriptor)
The two back middle are ok. The one in blue on the left is probably ok, especially if she has a big rack to balance herself out. If she’s flat chested, it’ll be a little harder. I think the problem with the girl in blue, now that I’ve been staring at her a little longer, isn’t that she’s too big, it’s her posture, and I think the bikini is a little small on her, makes her look bigger than she probably is.
Your link, Alice, is horrifying. Ew.
Humm. Well, I think blue girl looks totally fine. I actually think she has a pretty decent body - if I had her bod, I’d happily wear a bikini.
I think the COLOUR of her bikini is not particularly flattering on her - she’s very pale and it kind of emphasizes that.
YMM and obviously does V.
My test is if you have rolls or ripples, no bikini.
You see, I lost a bunch of weight and am now firmly a size 6. However, I have some cellulite on my thighs, my midsection rolls when I am sitting (not fat, just skin), and I have stretch marks on my thighs and hips. Therefore, no bikini for me.
What? Why thank you!
But in reality I am absolutely ordinary. But I’m an ordinary long haired in your face bikini wearin’ 36 year old beachlover. And I probably will be when I’m 46.
Doesn’t everyone’s midsection roll when sitting? I have a friend who is absolutely tiny, in fact he looks rather like a little boy when he is shirtless, and even HIS stomach skin rolls when he sits.
Well, being about your size, and having 5 kids, I too, have a nice little belly roll when I am sitting, hunched over. Hell, I think most 18 year olds have that. Actually I think everybody but swimsuit models have that. And they probably do too, they just never get photographed that way.
A good friend of mine was horribly burned as a child. Accidentally set on fire. Massive scarring across her arms, upper chest, stomach, face. The really bad ropy scarring. She has had extensive plastic surgery for her face, but not for her body. My age, three kids, great shape. She wears a bikini. She looks great.
I was going to post that picture! I was really pleased to see a woman of that size wearing a bikini. She’s probably at the top end for it, but I agree–I liked the confidence.
Am I the only one who thought that said NIPPLES?
I won’t wear a bikini. I’m 5’2" and I weigh about 185. I know people who are my height and weight more but look good in a bikini. I think my problem is stretch marks, cellulite, and a rolly-polly kinda look. I hide it very well when fully clothed because I’m very evenly proportioned. But, get me in a bikini and it becomes painfully obvious that I weight about 50lbs more than most people think. But some of my friends look totally stunning despite being bigger than me because they somehow managed to attain a size 18-22 body while remaining smooth.
So, I think the key is it doesn’t matter how large you are (or how small), as long as you’re smooth (or not Nicole Richie).
But, in addition to that, confidence works miracles. I have no confidence when I’m not fully clothed. I’m not even confident in a skirt because I’m self-consious about my knee fat and calves. But, put me in a great pair of heels and even in a mini-skirt I will feel like Jessica Alba. If I could have that kind of confidence in a bikini, I’d probably look better because I’d FEEL better.
Here’s another link (NSFW - it’s a women’s panties catalog page) for you to consider.
Granted, it’s actually panties but they pretty much all look like bikini bottoms. The pictures just show from just above the bellybutton to just above the knee. Those are all panties for “full figured” women and the models are all, I think, size 12 and up.
Some look good, some not so good. I think the models in the bras section look a little better.
By the way - I do not think that store sells bikinis. They sell swimwear but their “two piece” suits are tanks and bottoms.
I thought full-figured models were really about a size 8-10.
It appears that most plus size models are US size 12 and up. Wikipedia equates plus size with full-figured as equal terms.
I’d say if the bottom goes down to the ankles, it’s too big.
What?
I think if you have to ask the question , then it’s not a good idea.
@ the Clarkson line-up. Excepting the one on the right, none of them “shouldn’t” be wearing a bikini, but I still don’t find any of them particularly attractive.
The only one I didn’t like was the first one of the panties, she was too flabby. There was a couple that were poorly designed, or too small for the model, but all the rest looked fine. So, perhaps it’s not size, it’s tone? And the cut, the fit? That’s what I was trying to say earlier, find something that fits well, looks good on you. Don’t limit yourself by a certain style, or the idea that you are too old, or too fat, or too ugly.
