too big for a bikini? I don’t mean ultra-skimpy, just an average bikini. I’m going to the beach in a week, and I’m going to buy a swim suit. I was a size 14 last summer, so I have a granny suit. I’m a ten now, and I don’t think I’m “bikini-ready” yet, but I can’t help but wonder how much I like before I can wear one. Anybody have any opinions on this? Or even advice on a sexy, yet still one piece suit?
Congratulations on your loss! Ok, that sounds weird, kudos on feeling better or improving your health or something, I guess.
A size 10 sounds perfectly bikini-ready to me, unless perhaps you’re 4’8" in which case you might want to re-think it. Is it tone you’re concerned with? We all have certain areas we’d rather not have attention focused upon, maybe a suit intended to highlight/downplay certain features would work best?
The tankini look is pretty cool, maybe you could consider one of those as an interim suit option?
well, if it helps, I’m 5’4’’. I think I will look at some tankini’s Queen Tonya. Thanks
Too big for a bikini, IMO, is too big for the bikini you are wearing. Or, perhaps, big enough that you need more support than a bikini affords.
However, as I am not a “skinnier=better” person, my mileage generally varies:)
If the suit looks good on you, who cares what size it is! Size means very little. Are you a toned size ten or a little, emm, not so toned? A tankini sounds good, and I’ve seen some lovely sarongs on the beach too. Whatever you chose, if you’re not comfortable, there may be a very good reason. Plus, good for you on the weight loss!
Congratulations jesleigh!
I’m the same size and height you are, but I prefer tankinis because I’m a little shy about my stomach.
As long as you feel you look good in the bikini and you’re happy with it, I’d say go for it. Have fun shopping!
I wore a bikini at a size 10, and I looked pretty good. Now I’m pudgier(Dropping though!), and I wear tankini’s. I have two. One is a tank top, and the other is a tube top. I’ve gotten compliments on both. YMMV, so on, so forth.
Being a sizeist male, I would agree that 14 isn’t “bikini-ready.” However, I think only the most superficial of men would think that size 10 is still too large for a bikini. Congrats on the weight loss, and go for the two-piece.
You’ll be at the beach. You’ll never see the people surrounding you again, so who cares what they think?
Wear it, sister!
The tankini is the best invention for those who aren’t sure if their bikini-ready. It’s the best of both worlds.
