I took this 10-question quiz this morning.
I got 100%.
67%, which shows that these quizzes are BS and/or written by SoCal losers.
I’m 100% by birth, life history and temperament, but only managed to get 90% on the test.
55% which is about 50% higher than it should be, seeing as how I’m from the Chicago area.
Which ones did you get wrong?
I’m almost to old for #7. Almost. Number 8 is a joke on the stereotype. Number 10 is a shibboleth I run into every day; but it may not be obvious to even Northern Californians, let alone people from other states.
I only got 80%, which is weird because I was born in southern/central CA, have lived in northern CA for over 25 years, and have never lived anywhere but CA. Not sure which one(s) I missed.
Does it not tell you?
Here are the answers. Don’t look until you’ve taken the quiz.
1. Poppy.
2. Right at home.
3. A way to order food. (In-N-Out.)
4. Real Californians never say ‘Cali’.
5. Check Facebook. (They’re rarely noticeable.)
6. Sonic.
7. Hella.
8. Drive your bottles and cans to another town that recycles!
9. Hungry!
10. What’s the nearest freeway?
It says I’m 67% Californian. Not from there, don’t live there. Been there about a half dozen times.
I got 47%. Never been to California, or anywhere west of the Great Plains for that matter.
Also, I recognize the difference between the pronunciations of “Mary”, “marry”, and “merry”.
It’s all more about vague stereotypes than reality. I could easily write a quiz that separated the natives from the poseurs, and socalians from real Californians.
(Hint: it’s not and never “the” fucking Five.)
Okay, I missed Sonic, driving your bottles and cans to another town, and which freeway? (Actually, which freeway is wrong. If it’s 101 or 5, it just as easily could be northern or southern CA. I picked which baseball team. You don’t see a lot of Dodger fans up here. Though I hate baseball so I don’t care one way or the other. :D)
You ain’t from around here, are ya? :dubious:
If you’re on I-5, you’re in NorCal. If you’re on the 5, you’re in the real California.
Dumb quiz. Other than post #7 in this thread, where are the answers?
Question 6 is just pure trivia, and has nothing to do with being Californian. And if I’m So-Cal, how would I know 7? 8 and 9 are just opinions, (I have eaten at bad So-Cal roach coaches!) 10 is obvious, because if they say “5” you know it’s nor cal and “the 5” it’s LA.
Out here in Phoenix the numerous LA refugees have corrupted the language, but not completely. It’s not called “the 10” here, they call it “the I-10”. What a horrible abomination!
BTW: I am 82 percent
97% because I don’t do Facebook in any way, shape or form. The NorCal slang question was a wild guess because who listens to anybody from up there anyway?
Heh. Good point. I didn’t think of it that way. You people call all your freeways “the <whatever>.” I guess I’m thoroughly indoctrinated to NorCal after all these years, 'cuz that sounds weird to me now.
I refuse to call San Francisco “The City,” though. That’s where I draw the line.
I got 60%, which is pretty good considering I was in California once, when I was 5 years old.
I got a 90% and spent a total of eight years in southern California.
During the Northridge quake, I went to the window so I could watch the water slosh around in the pool. There was no Facebook at the time. (Besides, the power was out.) But I knew the stereotype, so I picked the right answer.
57%. Not bad, considering I’ve only been to LA for a week in 1983.
I don’t need to take no stinkin’ quiz to confirm I’m 0% fucking Californian!
But I did go to college there.
