How can Donald Trump win at this point?

LOL, yup.

I would think that very true - his base is the kind that always blames their travails on “them”, it’s never a failing within themselves. It’s never their own fault, it’s always someone else, or a rigged system, or things.

OK, perfect

I’m no expert in security, but the idea of securing the closest roof with a clear sightline to the stage seems like an awfully big mistake - possibly enough to denote incompetence.

Yes, especially considering there were officers inside the building. If the resources were there but not directed to secure the roof, that does seem like incompetence.

I love it also. But probably too highbrow for the people who need to hear the message.

I prefer: “King Shitus”. The “shit” part is real clue-by-four obvious and the “u” is deliberate as the intended audience understands Warner Brothers’ cartoon Latin, but has no idea who King Midas may have been, other than maybe the patron saint of muffler repair shops.

Ya always gotta pitch your message at your audience’s level and in this case that’s about ankle-high.

But he’s not just getting ex-president protection, he’s also getting major-political-party-nominated-presidential-candidate protection, which should be a lot more than a run-of-the-mill ex-president gets, and I’d expect it to be pretty close to the kind of protection a sitting president gets, especially when he’s appearing at one of his own events.

How about “King Shitass”?

Even better! :+1: :+1: :+1:

And now, you remember that guy who played Chef on SouthPark? His family are demanding Individual-ONE pay $3M in royalties for using the song Hold on, I’m Coming at his blortfests, and issuing a cease-and-desist order. They say that if he fails to coöperate, they will take legal action, with much higher stakes.

One could always go with the Michael Cohen-created nickname, which is now formally entered into public record. I thought it was ‘Baron Von ShitzInPantz’, which I kind of like better than just ‘Donald Von ShitzInPantz’. But either will do.

In 2016, at least Trump had something positive to say. He was going to make America great again. Let’s ignore that this was baloney, it’s something his supporters believed. He was going to bring manufacturing jobs back, reform healthcare, build a wall to protect us from brown people, and probably make sure we all had ponies. Life was going to be better thanks to the Trump administration. What’s he promising now?

Trump’s 2024 campaign has only three planks to his platform.

  1. Spite
  2. Vengeance
  3. Whining

Trump still has his core MAGA followers, but I think a lot of people are just tired of his schtick at this point. Trump didn’t make America great again under his administration and isn’t telling anyone how he’s going to make it great under his next administration.

Four. Four planks to his platform, Cardinal Fang. He has a fanatical devotion to staying out of jail. He expresses it as “They’re not coming after me, they’re coming after you,” and though most of his cult haven’t committed any felonies, and have no intentions of committing any, they still buy into this line of obviously self-serving bullshit.

I wish we had a like button. You’re right, and I cannot believe I forgot about what is perhaps the most important plank.

Oh, you mean the amazing singer, musician, producer, etc., from the 1970s. Different generation, I guess, lol!

All the 2024 trump signs I have seen have sported the tagline “Take America back”.

That’s the 2024 message: pure retrogression to whatever the reader thinks of as the ideal previous Mom, Apple, Pie, Chevrolet, and White Nationalist Supremacist era they invent with their rose colored glasses under their bright red ballcaps.

IOW …

Those People and Those People’s ideas have stolen Your country. Kind donald will reverse all that. Mostly by jailing, deporting, or killing, but certainly by disenfranchising, all Those people. Good Riddance!

He’s promising a white Christian-nationalist dictatorship, and his followers get to participate. It’s 100% analogous to what Hitler promised in the 1930s.

Let me put it another way. He’s also saying, in effect, “We take over the US completely and get to do things our way, or we fail and we keep having to do things only partially our way. Which do you prefer?”

Doing things our way = action, fun, exciting change, punishing the enemy and the Other, and fucking around on a global scale to boot. That’s precisely what Hitler delivered until it all went to shit for Germany.

Very well said there @Aeschines. 100% agree here.

Thanks. It’s sad but true. Thankfully, it seems now as though it won’t come to pass.

I can dig it.
