How can I block a SPECIFIC popup? (read: ANYTHING FROM GATOR)

I’m not too particularly irritable about the popups that appear on my browser from time to time, but these Gator folks, well, they’ve hit my last nerve.

Is there any way that I can set some sort of option on my pc so that I do NOT receive any more requests to install their damn software? From time to time, I’ll accidentally hit the wrong button, and it’s back to the table to clean up my computer again, since I don’t want their stuff on it.

Anyone? Anyone?

No ads popup filter is available free.

Popup Killer can be configured to block using wildcards. It’s what I’ve used for a while, and it’s now open source!

You also might want to look at The Proxomitron.

In Internet Explorer (I’m using 6 - I assume earlier versions allow this), go to Tools > Internet Options. Under Security, click on Restricted Sites (the round red icon), and below it click Sites.

Add *.gator.com, and kiss that irritating popup goodbye.

The best software to remove (IMO) to remove all ADs in your PC and not just stop the popups is ADAWARE available free at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/.

For the rock bottom cheapest, easiest way to block one server do the following:
Find the file “hosts” in your windows directory.
Open it with a text editor (notepad is best."
Add a line like the following:
127.0.0.1 gator.com
Save the file. Gator will never bother you again. You can do this for as many sites as you like.

Does anyone know why IE does not offer the option “Never trust content” as well as “Always trust content” from various networks? This could be reset in your options if you later changed your mind. I am thinking of the horrible “do you want to install” pop-ups that MrsIteki keeps installing by accident.

“Does anyone know why IE does not offer the option “Never trust content” as well as “Always trust content” from various networks”

I’m fairly certain that the “restricted sites” in internet options -> security is the ‘never trust content’ option for ie.
