How can I control the Google News aggregator?

I’m getting so pissed with Google News. For some insane reason it’s decided I’m obsessed with the Rolling Stones and the Kardashian woman. In the For You section it is constantly, and I mean by that every day now for weeks, feeding me trivia about the Stones, ever since I made the mistake of clicking an article about Jagger when he had his operation. Kardashian I have never in my existence clicked on anything about her.

It used to be simplicity itself to tailor Google News, I used to be able to block things like entertainment and sports completely. No longer. Is there any way of controlling it now? Or failing that is there any good alternative news aggregator out there?

Samr thing has happened to me in the past week, except for some reason it is with Jimmy Page and/or Led Zepplin, who I loathe.

I have no idea why Google thinks I want to know about a washed-up English junkie ex-guitar player who hasn’t been musically relevant for 40 years?

In a sense, this isn’t really a factual answer to your question, but I switched to feedly. It takes more effort to configure and tune than Google News used to, but the end result is better so it is worth the switch.

I can provide advice or export my configuration as a starting seed, if anyone wants to try it.

You can still basically filter by site/provider, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to do any kind of filtering/blocking by content.

I’m currently annoyed because I recently got a new phone for my wife, so now I’m getting every single new cell phone review / news article on there. But I don’t want to block Engadget, so I have to put up with OnePlus 7 Pro reviews, even though I’ve already got a new phone and never showed any interest in janky Chinese phones.
