How can I disable ctrl-A in WINDOWS

Not in MS Word - that’s easy. But I want ctrl-A to quit highlighting everything when I’m typing in mail and on the Internet, etc. What happens is that I accidentally hit ctrl-A instead of shift-A, all my text gets selected, and then the next character I type deletes everything. This can be VERY FRUSTRATING. I couldn’t find an option in Control Panel. Any ideas?

Hmm… this has never been a problem for me, but my standard response to similar annoyances is a quick ctrl-Z (undo). And your fingers are right there already.

Thanks, gonzoron. Ctrl-z works for the Internet stuff, but not for my work email, not sure why. You’d think there would be a way to turn that off.

hmm… what email program do you use at work? Outlook? Exchange? Netscape? something else?

Have you tried ALT+backspace? This is another undo shortcut and your email application may at least support this. Is there an “undo” option in the edit menu?

Alt-backspace not working either. My email is ‘BeyondMail’. Some antiquated Banyan system.

yikes… never heard of it… Sorry, can’t help you there.
