I have my computer and my TV hooked up, but the picture on the screen is only an extension of my computer screen (meaning when I move my mouse to the right off of the computer screen it continues onto the television). How do I get my television screen to show exactly what my computer screen shows.

You have left out every possible shred of information that can be of use to anyone who might want to help you. E.g., what equipment you have, software, cabling, etc.
So you’re just wasting bytes posting like that.
Maybe you need to read the docs on it? Did you select the tv in the display setup?
You should be able to select how it displays by going into your Display Properties (right click on your Desktop and select Properties) and going into the settings for your card. I used to have an ATI card on a laptop that did the same thing. There was a keyboard combination that toggled between the two modes also.
Yeah, go into Display Properties then click on the advanced button (in one of the tabs). This will bring up another set of tabs one of which should be associated with the way the computer outputs to the TV. There should be four options, clone (which simply clones the screen output to the TV, what you want I think) and split horizontally (which yours seems to be set on) or vertically, or dont output anything.
Just much around until it clones properly.
This is assuming your using a late version of Windows.
What you want is called “video mirroring” as opposed to “extended desktop”. On the Mac, you can control this choice with the Monitors and Sound Control Panel (MacOS 8/9) or with the Displays System Preference (MacOS X). I’d assume on a Windows PC you’d right-click the Desktop itself (either screen) and select Properties.
You may not be able to do video mirroring without lowering your regularl display to 800 x 600 or even 640 x 480. Televisions aren’t designed to handle the fine resolution of a good monitor and generally won’t do 1024 x 768 or higher. (assuming conventional non-digital TVs at any rate).
What AHunter3 just said in the last sentence is exactly right. Because of that, you will never be able to get a satisfactory image from a regular TV set. To make the image fit you’d have to lower the resolution a lot. No matter what you do, you’ll never achieve near the quality you’re used to on your computer monitor. The only way is if you had an HDTV with higher resolution capability and the proper inputs.
Actually, newer ATI cards at least can “output” (putting that in square quotes because just about anything above 758x425 or so are wasted in terms of resolution) 1024x768 resolution. The only reason I have this enabled when I use my tv output is so my primary monitor can display a decent resolution while I’m playing around on the tv.
