How can I REALLY get scratches out of my glasses?

They are polycarbonate with anti glare coating. They are light scratches not big gouges. I’ve heard the standard: toothpaste, car wax, baking soda, armor etch, polishing compound…and have seen videos where these don’t work.

What can I do that really works? They are less than 6 months old and I don’t want to buy new ones

Maybe the CD scratch repair stuff can help. It does not remove the scratches. But fills them in and then you polish. Like waxing your car.

I tried the CD scratch repair stuff that Kedikat mentions on a pair of glasses, but it didn’t work. I think they ended up worse than before I started. I ended up just replacing them online via Zenni Optical. It was a lot more affordable than buying them at my optometrist’s office or even Wal-Mart or Costco.

Were they expensive glasses purchased at the optometrist’s office? I buy mine like that and they come with a 1- or 3-year warranty (I forget) which includes scratch removal.

Former optician with 15 years of experience. There’s nothing you can do to remove scratches from polycarbonate lenses. Years ago we could polish fine (meaning barely noticeable) scratches out of uncoated plastic lenses, but it ran a huge risk of causing distortions, and at some point we were no longer allowed to do that. Unless things have changed drastically in the last 10 years, all polycarbonate lenses come with a 1 year 1 replacement warranty from the factory. Take them back to the place you got them and they should replace them for you.
