What was Jesse Jackson trying to pull by attempting to amek ties with the Taliban for negotiations? How is it that HE can do this? Can any citizen just start sticking one’s nose into this? Isn’t that the Government’s job???

Jesse Jackson was considering visiting the Taliban for the purpose of getting them to release foreign prisoners (as he has done in other countries several times before). Nothing more.
A lot of Americans consider even that to be too much under the circumstances. There’s a thread over in the Pit about this subject.
