How can Michael Jackson's kids be blond?

Well, how can they be if they are his natural offspring?

When you’re dealing with that level of wealth and cosmetic engineering, they can ba any damn colour, shape or species he wants them to be. Not that that is necessarily good, mind you…

I don’t think they are really blond. Their hair was obviously colored in that special about him that aired several months ago.

Just based on observation they do not appear to be his biological children as there is absolutely no Jackson family resemblance whatsoever in any of them, and I think that’s just the way he likes it.

Very easily.

Although human hair colour is not simple recessive/dominant, blond hair tends to be masked by darker genes. Michael had black hair before he had the tentacles and scales implanted. There is no good reason why he couldn’t have been carrying at least one ‘blonde gene’ that was masked by the black pigment. If his wife is also carrying the same or similar gene then the children will have a chance of being blonde.

Note that the genes for blonde hair, like pretty much every other possible human genetic option, are found naturally in African populations. Add to this natural diversity a couple of centuries of inter-racial breeding and it’s odds on that most black families have those genes floating around somewhere. Michael Jackson IIA and Michael Jackson IIB could have had blonde hair if both parents were black. Given that the mother is white (IIRC) then the chances are even higher.

My own grandparents both had black hair, and yet one of the children had blonde almost white hair, one a reddish brown, a few more had brown and only a couple had black. This isn’t uncommon amongst caucasians with black hair, and being a negro doesn’t alter things.

Yeah but what are the actual chances of that happening, that they should have blonde hair? Isn’t blonde hair a recessive gene? Also they have very pale skin. Most mulatooes(sp?) I know aren’t quite that pale.

To me, they look like they belong to a family of just Northern European descent.

They arent his natural kids.

I doubt anyone could give you a definitive answer. AFAIK the exact genetic mechanism for hair colour in humans isn’t known. As I said above, hair colour isn’t simple dominant/recessive or even codominant/recessive. There are at least two pigment types (red and black) as well as an absence of pigments (blonde). Adde to this there is an ability for pick and mix, so that hair can be light brown or auburn rather than just black, red or white. Humans have a near infinite number of shades of hair available.

However lets assume that it is a fairly basic dominance setup. Every human receives two hair colour genes Black pigment would mask red, which would mask blonde. Since Michael has black hair he could easily have one black and one blonde gene. Assuming the mother also has black hair then she too could carry one black and one blonde gene. This being the case we’d expect that 25% of the children would be blonde. With three kids that means there is about a 20 to 1 chance that they will all be blonde.

I’ve bet on ponies at longer odds.

Of course it isn’t that simple, and there are more than two versions of the hair pigmentation gene in each person. Given Michaels jet-black hair we might assume that he carries nothing but black genes As a result the odds could be somewhat higher than that, but still not in any way impossible.

A friend of mine has alabaster skin. I mean she is the whitest girl I’ve ever seen (with a couple freckles) with thisck, straight hair (dunno it’s natural colour, it’s always dyed). Her dad is black. You’d never think for a second that someone who makes the Michelin Man look tanned in comparisson could be 50% black, but she is.

My co-worker’s son on the other hand is more latte looking. His hair is blond, but in the really tight curls of his father’s hair.

It all depends on the parental gene pool.

The mother of Jackson’s first two kids is a very pale woman with light hair, so I don’t see why anyone finds it odd that the kids are blond. Their hair may darken as they grow older too.

What ** Eats_Crayons ** said. They are not just Michael’s kids, they are also Debbie Rowe’s kids. Would you post a thread “How can Debbie Rowe’s kids be blond?”

I’m not convinced he can have kids. I think his wacko father had his nuts cut to preserve the boyish singing voice. He probably bought the kids somewhere, to avoid child molestation charges.

That’s my humble O, with not one shred of evidence to back it up…

Look at the shapes of their heads. They have no resemblence at all to the Jackson family in general.

“They have no resemblence at all to the Jackson family in general.”

Neither does MJ, in my opinion

I don’t think that really counts as any kind of proof Dogface. My son looks absolutely nothing like his father. Rather, he’s the spitting image of one of my maternal uncles. Doesn’t mean he’s not his father’s son.

How can their dad look more like a white woman than a black man? At this point there’s just too much weird crap going on with him to question it. That way madness lies.

The Blonde hair comes from a Salon - when Michael takes Prince for a haircut, he also gets a fresh coat of Blonde. I saw the Living With Michael Jackson, and from what I saw, I think Michael is making the older son look like Macaulay Culkin. The daughter Paris looks as normal as she can considering her father and his life, I didn’t see her hair colored Blonde. The baby “Blanket” hasn’t been altered YET.

I can’t wait until the “Daddy Dearest” - Our life with Michael Jackson book comes out from those three, ala Mommy Dearest from Joan Crawford’s daugther Christina.

There are so many frightening ideas in that post that I don’t even know where to start.

There was a shot of the boy in that freakish interview show where it was abundantly clear that his hair had been bleached.

Well, I don’t think he’s as interested in Paris, she being a girl and all.
