How close do you live to your birthplace?

Just thought it would be an interesting poll. Pick the first option that applies to you.

Me: born and live in California, but in different parts of the state.

Born in La Jolla, live in San Jose. (approximately 410 miles apart as the crow flies)

By “birthplace” I assume you mean where one lived when they were an infant, not literally the city where they were born, given a lot of us in less urban areas were born in cities/towns we never lived in. Correct?

Either way, l live in a different state than the one I was born in.

My dad was in the air force and he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base outside of San Francisco where I was born. After staying in CA less than a year, our family then moved all around the country (as well as Canada and Germany!) as I was growing up.

I went to college in NC and spent long periods of my adult life in Texas and Washington State.

I now live in CA  So, I took a very long journey to return to my birth state!

Born in Zanesville, Ohio; currently live in Columbus, OH about 60 miles away.

I was born in the UK, now live in Canada. As an interesting aside, we realized recently at our office that only one employee of ten was born in Canada.

I live roughly five blocks from the (then hospital) abandoned building I was born in. But in a completely different city. Also about a 10 minute drive from where I lived as an infant.

I live over 7,000 miles away from my birthplace. And I am not even the farthest. But since for the time being I am the farthest in the thread, I rule the roost.

As a result of several earlier threads, I paced the distance out with my pedometer. I currently live 720m from the hospital where I was born.

Currently in Carson City, NV - born in Sand Hook, KY. According to mapquest that’s 2,285.43 miles.

I was born about 10 miles away, but I just moved back to this city recently.

Approximately 8 miles from my boyhood home. For Toledo, that may be above average.

Born in Danville, KY: currently live just outside Jackson, MS. That’s around 600 miles.

Born in San Francisco, currently live in Ann Arbor, MI. Google Maps says it’s 2,052 miles from SF General Hospital, where I was born, to my current address.

Right now, same neighborhood, but just same city in 3 weeks.

Before 10 years ago, I lived in 10 other towns and 2 states over the years until I came back to Chicago to stay.

I actually live in the same metro area today, only about 15 miles from the hospital where I was born.

My parents moved away from this area when I was in the first grade and I’ve lived as far as 2300 miles (or so) away from here, but moved back 12 years ago when we had our first child. It’s a great area to raise a family and I expect we will be here until the kids are at least all in college.

I was born a few miles straight down the main road from here. I’ve lived in this neighborhood 38 of my 40 years.

According to google maps, it’s 1,404 miles from the hospital where I was born in Providence to where I now live, in south Florida.

Different state. Mapquest shows the distance at 397 miles.

According to Mapquest I live 2117.41 miles from the house I grew up in…however I am not convinced that is the shortest driving route.
