I purchased an iPod Nano (4GB Black) last week (I freaking love it), but I noticed one short-coming with it.
I have acquired a semi-large MP3 collection (~25GB, I live in Canada so it is legal to do so). But I noticed when I try to move certain MP3s into the iTunes library they don’t show up.
Why is this? Is there any way I can make them show up?
are you dragging them into the iTunes Library Folder or the iTunes Library window while iTunes is open? If it is the former, do the latter. If it is the latter, and that does not work, the files may indeed be corrupt.
Another possibility is that the ID3 tags on the MP3 files are incompletely or incorrectly filled out, so they aren’t where you’re looking for them. Other than that, I dunno.
Or maybe they’re not even mp3s but merely have that at the end of their name. Either way there are freeware out there into which you can load the song and then resave it.
I’ve had these MP3’s (that aren’t working) for years in some cases.
They play 100% fine in WinAmp, and by using Nero I can use thse same MP3’s to make lawless audio CD’s.
So right away I know 2 things:
1). They are infact MP3’s
2). They are not corrupt (at least not 100%)
Here is one example of my problem. I used to own Dave Matthews Before these Crowded Streets, it got stolen so I deciced to download the album. I have burnt those tracks onto an audio disk and they play fine in any CD player, and they play fine in Winamp.
But when I drag the songs into iTunes, only 1 song shows up, with a weird MP3 tag (can’t remember what was weird about it). I thought it was the tags as well, so I installed Meracl ID3 Tag Writer (V1.3.4) and re-did the tags (artist, title, album, genere). How ever none of them worked. I had just previously used this program on about 120 songs with no issues.
