Occasionally I turn on Google Maps real estate option. The houses that show up seem to be more expensive than what shows up if I just go to realtors.com or some other web search.
Is this something other people have noticed as well? Or am I full of it?
Google isn’t coming up with the numbers from what I see. They are getting the numbers from other services. In my neighborhood I see listings from listhub.net, newhomeindex.com and howardhannah.com
It’s possible that Google is pulling in their data on a schedule (not a live lookup) and the prices have changed since the last time the source was polled. Could also be that the source is pulling in THEIR data on a schedule from MLS and THEY are behind as well.
As a real estate agent, I can tell you that it’s not a terribly reliable tool. I have a couple of listings that I’ve had for a little while that don’t show up on there, but my other listings that are exposed through identical channels do show up.
Most consumer sites have some limitations. Some can be downright misleading, though probably not intentionally.
