How could a police officer be this wrong?

It seems to be taking a toll on your being.

He can’t get a parking spot near the cliff.

Go on…

“Let it go”? What are you talking about? If you aren’t telling me to stop calling when I see a violation, what exactly are you telling me to “let go”?

It should not matter one whit if the OP has legal use of a handicap spot. Able bodied people can, and do, report violations. It’s called being a good citizen. If you saw someone getting robbed, would you not call because you weren’t the one being robbed?

Well see the thing is, some people seem to think parking illegally in a handicap parking spot is so trivial and inconsequential of a transgression that no one should even waste their time making sure that those who commit said transgressions be held accountable.

Clueless ones, if someone parked over your driveway on a public street three times, would you figure, eh, they’ll get caught someday, I won’t call?

The predominant attitudes on this infuriate me. It’s part of the hidden prejudice: “These people should be glad we’re giving them anything. How dare they demand their rights?”

So much for fighting ignorance, huh?

It was self explanatory. You repeatedly start threads on the subject. It bothers you a great deal.

Private business are required by local law to maintain handicapped parking spaces and use of those spaces is enforced by the police department.

dele

Well each individual thread had specific subject matter that was unique to the circumstances surrounding it and was started simply as a way of sparking discussion (seeing as this is, you know, a discussion board). And you are correct, the abuse of handicap parking does bother me a great deal. I know you and some other ABs think that the matter doesn’t deserve any attention but it is a real problem in the lives of many disabled people.

And just to keep this reigned in, it has been only three threads.

It’s not even that hidden, really. Some people openly express this attitude. “These people should be glad we’re giving them anything. How dare they demand anything?”…Is how I’d write it. Some people view the disabled as a burden on society, so since society is gracious enough to provide anything at all, they (the disabled) should be grateful for it.

That is probably the furthest thing from the truth I have seen in a week.

You should change your seat.

You are saying no one expresses this attitude? Oh please. It’s especially common in online gathering-places where people feel protected by anonymity in order to spout out this kind of crap.

Small minds often assume that if they don’t know about it, it must not exist.

Really? In my lifetime I’ve heard this sort of thing said about handicapped people, the poor, racial and religious minorities…

You don’t seem to be all that familiar with Ambivalid, are you?

My opinions about this issue are independent and long-standing. None of it depends on the character of Ambivalid.
