How could the flavour of Jerusalem artichokes be familiar to me?

I recently bought some Jerusalem artichikes and made soup out of them. I’m sure it was the first time I have ever eaten them. I loved their flavour and texture, but somehow the flavour seemed familiar to me. Is there anything else you know of that tastes similar, that I might have eaten in the past?

Just to be clear, Jerusalem artichokes are completely unrelated to and different from the other kind of artichokes currently under discussion.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had one, but I seem to recall it reminding me of jicama (or possibly water chestnuts).
