I was enjoying a nice artichoke, and suddenly wondered if anyone here has never eaten one. For the purposes of this poll, I mean has anyone here never eaten any part of an artichoke.
Not only have I never tasted one, I don’t even know what an artichoke looks like.
I never have. I’m not opposed to the idea; it’s just not on my vegetable-buying radar when I head to the produce section.
Not intentionally.
I haven’t either.
I have never eaten a raw one or a complete one…I have had artichoke hearts in some kind of oil, which is really yummy.
I haven’t, but there are a lot of things I haven’t eaten.
Add me to the list! I’ve never eaten an artichoke.
I don’t even know how to eat an artichoke.
Nor do I trust any food whose name contains the word “choke.”
(Probably deviating from the desired response, but) Artichoke is one of my favourite vegetables.
It’s quite a common pizza topping over here in Europe-land, and absolutely delicious.
‘It may choke Artie, but it won’t choke Stymie!’
Cut off the end and boil it until it’s tender. Pull the leaves off and dip in in (garlic) salted butter, or mayonaise. (Butter vs. mayo is sure to start an argument!) Scrape the whitish goodness off the end with your teeth. Discard the rest of the leaf and proceed to the next. When the leaves have gotten too small for comfortable eating, remove the rest. Use a spoon to scoop out the ‘pin-feathers’ (immature leaves). Be sure to get rid of them all. Dip the heart in your butter (or mayo) and eat it. This is the best part, and the preliminary leaf-eating is a nice prelude.
Yes.
I suggest Hollandaise.
I’ve never knowingly eaten one.
I have however tried French, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, Dutch, Hungarian and Russian. Plus ostrich, shark and kangaroo.
Count me in as one who has eaten (and enjoyed) one!
Of course if you use Hollandaise, you must serve it properly. It must be served in a chromed dish.
Because…
There’s no plate like chrome for the Hollandaise.
You’re going on the list, pal.
Hmmm. I think I may have eaten some as part of a spinach dip.
Haven’t eaten one, but always willing to give it a shot.
Golly, I hope it’s not the Fecal Roster!
