How did Diogenes the Cynic get banned?

I must have missed that happening, but I’m sure it’s a great story. Underneath his name in his posts it says “BANNED.”

Thanks in advance for the juicy gossip!

In before this thread gets closed. Look in ATMB. There was at least one, and maybe two, multi-page threads on the subject.

You get pitted 20 something times for being a jerk and sooner or later the jerkiness catches up with you.

I prefer to think of it as a Festivus miracle that came early.

This is in the wrong forum, so I’m moving it. Here’s a link to the announcement of the ban, and here’s the discussion thread.

“Send not to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee…”

OK, I’m Donne here.

He got banned the old fashioned way. He earned it.

No he didn’t.

What? Someone has to pick up the slack.

Thanks for the links. This place is more homogeneous and insular without him, although I realize his signal to noise ratio was erratic. Also thought the links posted in the Gonzomax banning thread didn’t contain anything caustic at all. I’m less familiar with him, but enjoyed his participation in The Game Room.

As the Ban Hammer swings…

That’s true when anyone gets banned.

Yes, but not always notably so.

Or, Send not to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for D…"

Or, as Donne wrote to his wife just after marrying her against her powerful father’s wishes (thereby losing a lucrative position), “John Donne, Anne Donne, Un-done.”

Correct. there are fewer outright jerks.

I love this!!!

Q

Given that there was extensive discussion of the ban when it took place several months ago, I’m going to close this.
