You know in the same vein as Letterman’s Return, I meant to catch how Jay Leno would do on his day back, but dammit I just missed it!
How did Leno do?
Conan is visibly shook up by this (I’m watching him now.).

I thought Leno spoke well. It was a different take on it than Letterman, as well it should have been. He meant what he said, and he said good things.
John McCain and Crosby Stills and Nash were Leno’s guests.
Just think, in the summer of 1969 while one was a POW in some rat hole in Hanoi, the other three were singing hippie anthems to 500,000 rain soaked kids.
And tonight they are on the same show, being chummy with each other and with CSN praising McCain.
Well maybe I am overdramatic, but it still sort of says something to me.
I live in the MST - the red headed stepchild of time zones, so I haven’t even seen Conan yet.
My first thought was, “He lives in the Mystery Science Theater”? Wow, that would be cool.
Chuckle!
what Rather, Leno and Letterman think or do? They are paid millions for what? and they have an exaggerated sense of their self importance.
I’ll reply to this, even if the thread is close to dead.
See, I DO care … because these are people that entertain me and inform me, and I want to see their humanity. Whether or not you care is completely up to you – but Jay and Dave are in my living room every night, so it’s interesting to me to know what they “think or do”.
And I can only assume you didn’t watch either Dave or Jay’s returns. Both were extremely humble, and Jay specifically said (with what I believe was a truly genuine spirit) “I don’t pretend it’s an important job.” To paraphrase him, he said that it seems incredibly irrelevant – but it’s his job, and if he can make just one of those firefighters or police officers smile when they get home from work, then he’s doing his job.
Just my two cents.
Did you see the second night, what Jay is doing with his motorcycle? I’ll bet that will raise a lot of money for relief work.
I’m at work while these shows are on. What is Leno doing with the motorcycle?
He just bought a brand-new Harley and is getting all his guests over the next few weeks to sign it, and then he’s going to auction it on eBay, with the money going to the fund for the firefighters and police officers.
I thought Jay was very humble and moving. I missed Letterman on Monday because I had to be up early the next day, but Jay was fantastic. He talked about his father teaching him to fight the good fight, and how this was a sucker punch. He also mentioned that he knows his job isn’t important, but that he just wants to make people smile or laugh during this tragedy.
John McCain spoke so movingly and beautifully that when Bush announced a new Homeland Security Cabinet position, I was sure he was going to nominate him.
I watched Jay Leno on the 20th and I could tell he is really struggling with this as we all are. Then I watched Conan and he seemed real upset. They are people like us and have to try and work with this horrible event on our minds.
