Ask her is she ever played Zealot trivia on AOL. That was a frequent question. I learned a lot of things I didn’t know about comics from that game.
Are we turning this into a comic trivia thread?
Hal Jordan was assigned 2814; Tomar Re’s beat was 2813.
The All-Star Squadron … Hm. Liberty Belle, Firebrand, Robotman, Commander Steel, Johnny Quick - those five were the core for most of the run, but the first mission of the All-Stars involved Liberty Belle, Quick, Robotman, Hawkman, Dr. Mid-Nite, The Atom, and the Shining Knight.
BE8: What Kryptonian island had dark-skinned inhabitants?
BE9: Who is Wonder Woman’s mother?
BE10: From whom did Hal Jordan get his ring?
BE9: Queen Hippolyta
BE10: Abin Sir (with his evil kid called Abin Sin)
Two out of three?
Who were all of the Starmen?
Numbnuts,
Ask yer girlfriend… :smack:
I remember Krypto from an HB cartoon way back in the 70s. As I recall, there was a 5min Superman episode, then a Superboy with Krypto (IIRC the titles had Superboy lifting a piano with one hand) followed by another Superman. I used to have a Bible, given to us by the Gideons at school around 1975, in which I, aged 11, put Krypto’s name instead of my own as my first act of radical atheism. What a rebel I was
Both of my kids could answer that question, but neither would have the foggiest about Jimmy Olsen (quick, what’s his middle name?) They could also tell you the names of the agents from Totally Spies and their boss, all of the characters from Jimmy Neutron and which action figure Carl emulates, plus who SpongeBob Squarepants’ boss’s nemesis is.
Also, one of their “fake” uncles, a close friend of mine, named his dog Krypto years ago, before the current cartoon show.
OK…there’s a challenge…
Ted Knight
Prince Gavyn of Throneworld
Mikal Tomas
Charley McNider
David Knight (twice - once after Mikel, once after McNider)
Will Payton (A reincarnation of Gavyn. Sort of.)
Jack Knight
Eventually Thom Kallor (Star Boy) would have taken the name. Who knows if the Waidboot version will. Then there’s Starman 1,000,000, whose given name I can’t remember, but he was a Knight. There are also several shown (as statues), but not named in Starman 1M’s headquarters.
I think the order was Ted, McNider, David (his second time), Gavyn, Mikel, David (his first time), Jack.
And the outlier, no longer in continuity, very brief use of the name - Bruce Wayne.
Then there’s the Stargirls and Starwomen - Courtney Whitmore, Patricia Dougan, and S1M’s mother (Also blanking on her name).
Through enough for you?
Sheen emulates Ultralord. Carl’s the one with the Llama fixation.
Your kids would be ashamed of you. ^__~
(Ow! No hitting!)
(Also, in my Starman order, stick Payten after Mikel, and amend my David entry to reflect it. I always forget him.)
I read that as The Legion of Strumpets.
Well, mystery solved. I beat and tortured her till she spilled the beans. Apparently, local tv network TG4 has bought up loads of old hanna-barbera cartoons to show in the middle of the day. Seeing as how my boo is out of work at the mo, she has plenty of time to sit watching kids shows while i sweat blood at work. Among these shows are the fantastic four, superfriends, and of course, Superboy. Therefore, she picked up the name of his dog, and it stuck in her mind. It took hours of interrogation (Me begging her to tell me her secret, her deliriously happy about having one over me) and I was a bit miffed at the end: she’s been watching these shows for weeks, and never thought i would like them videoed?
Anyway, she taped todays superfriends and all is well. Aquaman and the wonder twins had to find a doctor in the amazon for a blood transfusion or some shit. And there was a monkey too! I thought it was Beppo, but instead it was the wonder twins sidekick monkey. I guess you cant have enough super monkeys. So, I’ll leave you to answer:
What is the name of the wonder twins monkey?
And if any one has the answer to what clarke called Krypto when not in hero form, that would be appreciated!
Selene - Grace
Hippolyta - Strength
Ariadne - Skill
Zephyrus - Speed
Aurora - Beauty
Minerva - Wisdom
Black Adam:
Shu - Stamina
Heru - Swiftness
Amon - Strength
Zehuti - Wisdom
Aton - Power
Mehen - Courage
Now if only I could remember Hoppy the Marvel Bunny’s…I used to know it…
Gleek is Zan & Jayna’s monkey.
I’ll get back toyou on krypto’s secret i.d., he did have one. He splashed brown paint on his otherwise white coat while pretending to be normal, and of course discarded his cape (actually it could retract into his collar.)
You know, some of those Silver Age plots were insane.
It is…acceptable.
Why did McNider take over as Starman, anyway? (I personally would have liked it to just be an eternal mystery?)
The Starman-Batman explanation:
Some Supervillain gave Batman an induced phobia for bats. He therefore couldn’t fight crime as “Batman” anymore, since dressing as a bat would activate the phobia. But of course he has to fight crime, and wear a costume, and have a theme, he can’t just fight crime wearing normal clothes. So he makes a “Starman” costume and builds a bunch of new gadgets with a “star” theme, and fights crime as “Starman”. In the end, he defeats the villain (can’t even remember who this was, Scarecrow?), and gets an antidote to the induced phobia, and returns to being Batman.
Of course, all this was wiped out by the Crisis which is why it isn’t in continuity anymore.
No question mark there.
Name the Superwomen?
That would be the Legion of Superheroes when Grell was drawing it.
It was Professor Milo.
Ted had suffered a nervous breakdown, and Opal City needed a hero, so McNider took on the identity of Starman and picked up the slack until David time-traveled and took over.
(Aside - my Starman timeline has Mikaal’s name misspelled, and he and Gavyn reversed.)
Oh, and I apoligize for not thanking you for answering my questions. :smack:

Very true.
And if any one has the answer to what clarke called Krypto when not in hero form, that would be appreciated! It was Skip, I’m pretty sure. I loved that old Silver Age crap. I had stopped with the comics by the time they merged the Earths, but I wish I’d kept my Lois Lanes when I sold the rest of my collection.
