A coffee shop near my house recently started distributing a one-time throwaway login for WiFi access. The username and password and usually four random characters each. However, a few days ago, it seemed like they knew I’d be visiting the Straight Dope Message Board.

I usually get four random letters and/or numbers something like “g29x”. So, the odds of getting “cite” are 36x36x36x36, or 1 in 1,679,616.
