I was playing basketball today, and while reaching for a high rebound, I fell very badly on my right ankle, twisting it quite severely. It’s now happily swollen, and as someone commented, looks not unlike an egg.
I’ve had a torn ligament in this ankle for years now, and it never quite heals - it goes back to perhaps 70%, and when I start thinking that it’s fine, and stop wearing my elastic support, this goes and happens. Three times now. Maybe I should stop thinking that it will ever heal completely.
So I’m stuck in bed without recourse to much entertainment apart from the Dope, so I thought I would share. Anyone else have long-term irritations of this nature?
Ah, you see, that is why life is easier for us lazy and non-sporty people. I am sorry for your pain and I will comfot myself with a piece of chocolate on your behalf.
I do hope the egg isn’t planning to hatch, though.
I have stretched-out ligaments in my ankles. When I injure them too badly, I take some IB Profin (possibly not spelled like that) to reduce swelling, put on an ankle brace for when I absolutely have to walk on it, and attempt to stay off of it as much as possible. I also have physical therapy exercises I’m supposed to do.
Funny, I have one on my forehead from kissing one on my favorite stepping stones outside my back door. I was bringing in groceries, dropped a bag, bent to get it on wet grass, and then I was kissing the Dryad. :smack:
My husband freaked out, and made me keep an ice pack on it for a while. It’s still the size of a turkey egg. Sometimes, I wonder how I’ve managed to stay alive this long.
Dammit, now I’m all jealous. Only chicken egg status here.
A friend of mine says my speciality subject is accidental self-harm, and I should have majored in that instead of physics, and I’m not sure she isn’t right. Sympathies all round, though.
