I guy I used to work with used the term to describe any unidentifed, disgusting substance. Every time he said it, it made me laugh. Been my computer ID ever since.

Kinoons is short for my last name. When I was younger <cough> my hockey coach could not get my full last name out, so he shortened it to Kinoons.
Well, Maru means circle or zero in Japanese. The suffix Ura- means underneath or hidden side.
Nither of these are perticularly relavant to me. Ura-Maru was a supervillan (Maru was a tragic hero type) from a game I was running, and I ended up using it on a supers RPG chatroom, and just kept it. Actually, the game ended before UM had a chance to show up, but he was REALLY cool, so I wanted to keep him around somehow.
Ura was also the name of a talking cat an an anime whos job was to wrap himself around princesses. And that’s pretty much my goal in life, so that works too.
I’m sorry, I can’t resist.
Cause tooth decay and weight gain?

Mine’s kind of boring.
It was a long time ago in a chat room far away, I was on IRC, and was quite new to the internet. I needed to think of a good name, so my friends helped me out by asking “Well, what kinds of things do you like?” I don’t remember all that I said, but among them was “kinkajous” (If you don’t know what a kinkajou is, check out this site.)
One of my friends (who had an interesting story behind his name too, BTW) just casually suggested “KinkaJoy.” I don’t know exactly how he came to that name, but it had a nice ring to it, so I used it.
And that’s pretty much it. This name wasn’t even thought of by me, and the person who thought of it probably didn’t even spend more than 10 seconds thinking about it, but I’ve been using the name “KinkaJoy” for four years!
When I cam to the SDMB, I had the implication that maybe “KinkaJoy” was a bit too suggestive (you’d be surprised how many people misinterpret it as being “Kinky Joy” “Kinky Boy” or “Kinky Toy”), even though it has nothing to do with, er, kinkiness. So I shortened it to just KJ. In retrospect, it probably would have been alright for me to use the name KinkaJoy here, because you people wouldn’t seem to mind (see this very old thread.)
And “KinkaJoy” would be searchable, whereas “KJ” is not.
Maybe I should change it. =\
My initials.
I was filling in information to get set up for SDMB. The wife had the stereo on and a song came on with the following lyrics: “And OZ never gave nothing to the tin-man that he didn’t already have”. I liked the sound of tin man for an ID. For grins, I used the symbol for tin from the periodic table. “Sn” I don’t know if anybody ever caught on to it.
