How do I delete photos on an Ipod touch?

Hold on, now. I know the explained way I’ve read and I am wondering if there is a better(easier) way.

I synced a bunch of picture folders to my Ipod touch. Not a huge amount, but about 1 Gig of data. Thing is, I just assumed I could fly through them and delete the ones I don’t want.

Uh, apparently not? You are supposed to delete them from the folders on your computer and then re-sync? Weird.

Is there any kind of easier way? Like, a file manager app that would…you know, allow me to individually delete photos.

Can this be done somehow through Itunes? Make my Ipod an actual disk drive or something…where I can access my pictures?

Sorry, it’s just a bit frustrating. I had no idea the commitment I was making when I threw a bunch of pictures on there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Plug it in, go to “My Computer”, click on your ipod, drill down a couple of folder levels, and delete the files you want.

Really? When I go to my computer and pick it, I only see the pictures taken with the Ipod touch itself. No other files(music, pictures, video) are visible, nor are any folders.

Is there a way to change this?

Synced photos can only be removed from the iPod through iTunes. Apple assumes that if you took the time to sync them, you actually want them on the iPod.

So, on your computer, just remove the ones you don’t want from the folder you’ve chosen to sync and re-sync.

I do appreciate your help, but I addressed that in my OP and am basically asking if anyone knows away around it.

If I re-sync a few folders, will it automatically remove all the ones I synced?

The iPod Touch can’t be used as mass storage without hacking it. I don’t know how comfortable you’d be about that, but I don’t think it allows you to drag and drop photos off the iPod. iTunes is the Apple way to put photos on your iPod. The whole thing about syncing is that it does synchronise what’s on the iPod with the folder(s) on your computer. If you don’t want the photos, then remove them from the sync folder(s).

Even with the iPod 5G that I have, whatever is synced to it, is not visible when you mount the iPod on the desktop. The mass storage area is separate from the iTunes area.

So, I go to the folders on my computer. Remove the pictures I don’t want(I guess backing them up on my computer elsewhere), and then re-sync? It will remove the ones I removed?

A simple trash can button on my Ipod would have been nice, but I guess I can do this.

You can simply tell iTunes to sync to a different (empty) folder–you don’t need to move the ones on your computer. This will remove the previously synced images from your iPod.

They way around this is . . . don’t sync your photos. There are other apps, and other ways to work with your photos on the Touch–but Apple’s method is pretty locked down.

What I do is make a special “iPod Photos” folder and copy the photos I want to sync with the iPod in there. That way I don’t have to let iTunes loose on my whole photos folder.

iTunes decides to make thumbnails or something for the photos sometimes and it takes FOREVER.
