How do I find out who the best Lasik surgeons in my area are?

I live in south florida and I’ve heard about the Rand Eye institute but I want to be thorough in my research. I’ve been reading old lasik threads and everybody recommends getting the best even if it means paying more and I agree with that.

Thing is, I don’t know how to find that out. I tried googling, visiting lasik websites and such without success. I suppose I could email surgeons and ask questions about their customer satisfaction rate and whatnot but to do it statewide would be quite a task.

I don’t know anyone who’s had lasik around here but I’m going to start asking everybody I know and hopefully get some recommendations. In the meanwhile, I’m open to advice.

Companies like Health Grades provide data and report cards on health care providers. Not sure which city you’re in, but I saw reports for eye care clinics in Miami and west palm beach.

The state of florida has their own site called FloridaCompareCare.gov/

I suppose you could see if your state has a website listing docs who have had disciplinary actions taken against the (similar to the State Bar).

I went with personal recommendations from friends and family when I got mine, as well as professional reputation- Dr. Robert Maloney was my choice.

Ask your optometrist who they go to and who’d they trust with their family.

I spent about 20 minutes on both websites and wasn’t able to find the reports you mentionned. Could you be more specific?

Gozu, I used two methods to help decide. I tracked down which doctors did the most professional athletes, especially Baseball Players and I asked my sisters who the Doctors in her practiced use. She is their Sr RN. I ended up with the a local doctor who did some athletes and many doctors.
