Reverend Kenneth E. Grant officiated at my Aunt’s graveside service this past weekend.
I have googled his name and the Presbyterian churches in California - not just SoCal, but all of CA just in case he is located somewhere else.
I’d really like to contact him and tell him how much I enjoyed the service and the way he conducted it, well, it was just what my Aunt would have wanted. I think that’s at least in part why I enjoyed it so much.
I haven’t been able to reach my cousin. Since google has failed me, if you can’t help me, I’ll wait until I can reach my cousin but I’d really like to drop the Reverend a note asap.
I’d guess he was in his 60s. I’m not great at guessing someone’s age, but I don’t think he could have been more then 70s at the most and I don’t think he would have been in his 50s.
My Aunt lived in CA all her life. In Los Angeles until she married, then in Inglewood most of her life after that until about 1990 when her daughter talked her into moving to Oceanside to be closer to her so she could take care of her mom.
That ironicly didn’t last long as my cousin got cancer abt 3 years later and died within a few weeks of being diagnosed. My Aunt stayed in Oceanside until she really couldn’t live alone and moved in with her son a few years ago in Anaheim.
I just listed where she’s lived in case that will help ya’ll who are familiar with this area.
If anyone was asking how to find someone who was LDS, I’d know where to refer you.
Strictly speaking, “reverend” is an honorific, not a title. We speak of a judge as the Hon. Robert Jones, but not as an honorable; likewise, the Rev. Kenneth Grant is a minister, not a reverend.
I didn’t see anything on the PC(USA) website that looked like a list of all the ordained clergy in the country. I doubt they have one–that sort of thing is probably kept at the presbytery or synod level. There are a dozen or more presbyteries in CA (eight in SoCal alone) and only a few have on-line clergy directories.
You could try asking Presbytel for help, but the easiest way is probably to call the church or funeral home that handled the service. They would probably know what church he is from.
Of course, if he’s not PC(USA) [the largest, but not only, Presbyterian denomination in the country] calling someone involved in the service is probably the only way, unless you know what denomnination he DID belong to.
I don’t know. I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t know there were more then one Presbyterian denomination until this week when I began hunting for him.
This week, I’ve learned more about the beliefs and workings of the conservative and liberal denominations that make up the Presbyterian church but haven’t found the specific man.
I hadn’t thought of contacting Forest Lawn, but that is sounding like a good way to go.
There was an email link on that page too. I’ve emailed him. I’m hoping it’s him. If not, maybe he’s been mistaken for him often enough he knows how to find the correct one.
Thank you everyone.
Walloon what would be the correct name to address him?
Technically, Walloon is correct, but as a metter of common usage, most people probably call him Reverend Grant in person (except the ones who call him Kenneth.)
