How do I fix "Connection Refused" error message?

OK, I admit it: I’m a techno-idiot. So I need a simple explanation for this. I’ve been trying to log on to a message board site on Yahoo that I use a lot; I was on there just an hour ago with no problem. Now I keep getting an error message that says, in its entirety, “Connection refused.” I’ve tried a number of other sites, and I can connect with all of them with no problem. It’s just this one site.

I tried quitting Firefox and logging back on. Nothing. I tried restarting. No difference. I need to get back on this site tonight.

Any easy-to-do quick fixes I can try?

If you are literally seeing a blank page with absolutely nothing but the words “Connection Refused”, then the problem is almost certainly that the message board is down. Sorry.

Go here and copy and paste the URL to the website you’re trying to get to. It will tell you if the problem is on your end, or the board’s end. If it’s on your end, you can try restarting your computer. If it’s on the board’s end, there’s not much you can do but wait for it to come back.
