How do I get my beard to stop being itchy and tingly?

I like the look of a beard. I have some Greek ancestry so I have good thick, dark facial hair. The only thing is, when it comes in, it’s always itchy as hell, and tingly, and it doesn’t go away even if I wash my face, put conditioner in the beard, rub lotion into my skin, whatever. It always feels prickly and itchy.

Because of this, I can never endure having a beard for more than a few weeks. But I want to grow a big one for the winter.

Is there something I can do to get rid of that itchy feeling?

Yeah.

Wait a month.

By that time the ends of your curly beard hair will have grown out far enough not to touch your skin. That reduces the itching a lot.

I have heard that salt water wash of the skin in the beard area helps too, but that is just a report, not an experience.

Tris

When I had a beard my face became accumulated to it after a few weeks. Before that I found that skin moisturising cream rubbed into the bearded area worked for me. Also sleeping was difficult at first if the beard is pressed into your pillow, so rearanging pillows to avoid this helps.

One surefire way is not to itch it. I know its hard, but it works.
