I had the same result with a used toilet
Plus, these days there are cameras everywhere; small, undetectable cameras. This is also something to keep in mind if you are planning “revenge”.
Just n-thing…put it out on your sidewalk and it will be gone sooner or later.
Do this. It’s a pretty sure thing to work. I’ve left old computers, furniture, etc. It always gets picked up by someone eventually.
The other option is to break it up and put in trash bags and put it out with the regular trash.
To the people suggesting putting it out on the curb… isn’t it kind of a jackass move to make someone haul a huge 60" TV only to find that it’s pretty broken afterward?
Or:
- We can’t accept a 60" TV.
- Will you accept four 30" TVs?
Who would expect a tv left on the curb to be functional?
If you put a sign on it that says “this TV works perfectly,” then yeah. If you make no claims as to its state of repair, then…uh what’s latin for “let the hauler beware”?
Yes, but I’m morally ok with putting trash in a dumpster.
You called the cops on a guy putting trash in a dumpster?
How about: Befriend a person that lives in an apartment complex with a dumpster. Hang out after work and on weekends for a few months. Travel around the country on various trips, trying new food and drinks. After a year or 2, tell them you have an old TV that you don’t need and offer to give it to them. Take it to their apartment and hook it up. Act surprised when it doesn’t work. Offer to pay someone to look at it. Call a repairman that you similarly befriended 6 months ago. Pay your repairman friend to declare that the TV is broken and not cost effective to fix. Apologize profusely to your friend and offer dinner to make up for it. On the way to your car to get dinner, drop TV off in dumpster. Eat dinner, stiff your friend with the bill by walking out right before dessert. Never call them or the repair guy again.
Better?
Goodwill offers free electronic recycling. In my job I have occasion to haul off a fair amount large screen TVs. Goodwill always takes them.
Are you OK with stealing water and electricity from your neighbor too? Were you under the impression that dumpster services were provided for free?
He called the cops on a guy putting trash in his dumpster - the one that he had to pay to have hauled away when it got full.
Did you never wonder why it’s illegal to put items in a dumpster that’s not yours?
I don’t equate putting trash in a dumpster and stealing water and electricity from my neighbor.
Sometimes, but it’s not high on my “Things to worry about” list.
You’re fucking right I did. I pay a decent amount of money each month for that dumpster and its weekly emptying. I bring my garbage from home and dump it. I allow friends, who ask me, to use it when they need to. They sometimes thank me with a six pack. So, yeah, some asswipe who gets caught using my dumpster is going to get the police showing up.
It’s too bad for you that the legal system disagrees.
Whether or not you think it’s moral is irrelevant. It’s illegal to do, so advising someone else to do it is a stupid thing to post.
That’s what I thought - and that’s the problem.
I never opined that it was legal or that the legal system agreed with me.
Going faster than the speed limit is illegal too.
Trash in a dumpster? meh
Yep, how DARE a guy use a dumpster to throw away trash. Should be a 5 year minimum sentence
If people throwing trash into a receptacle designed to receive trash is the biggest problem you have to worry about, then good on you!
I never suggested prison, but the idiot had to haul away the disgusting contents of my dumpster (including dog shit scooped and emptied into the dumpster) in his family car in order to avoid being charged.
Manson, where do you live? I’ve got some stuff to get rid of and I figured I’d put them in your garbage can.
