How do I get rid of eye gants?

Hi All,
I live in an area were is a large number of little black flies that try to fly into my eyes. The problem is worst when I try and mow the lawn. From some research it appears that these bugs are eye gnats. Now that I know what they are can anyone tell me how to get rid of them? I’ve read a few web pages, but there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to get rid of them. One recommended using yellow sticky cards and another urea. Frankly, I can’t pee over my entire lawn and I don’t think the neigbors/police/etc would approve. Any help is appreciated.
thanks,
Pat

You are getting urine and urea confused. Urea is a fertilizer. Urine is - well you know what that is  Here’s a link to give you more info on urea http://smallfry.dmu.ac.uk/chem/mom/urea/urea.html
Sorry, I can’t help you with the gnats.

Lol, Urea is also used in lotions for severely dry skin (I joke with my husband about my “Pee Lotion”). I don’t know how your friend wanted you to use the urea, but perhaps some of the lotion on your face? It’s pretty expensive though, (like $10 for a small tube) so you may want to try the fertilizer.

May I suggest - sunglasses?

Oh, gnats. I was wondering what eye gants were.

Squint more.

Do as we do in South Georgia and blow them off your face.

Where a baseball cap. Works for the softball team.

Oh, jeezuz. Have to stop posting after 10. Of COURSE I meant wear.

!@#%@#^ @#^ @#^@#^@# %^%&^&^*.

Sorry about the mispelling on gnats. I have done the sunglasses, hat, and extend lower lip and blow flies away, but it’s not effective. They still fly under the hat and around the glasses into my eyes. I’d like to know if there is a chemical or natural predator that can erradicate this little sob’s without gassing my family or destroying the lawn

Cecil wrote about gnats. He said they swarm around like that because they are having a big mating orgy & when you put your hand through them, you are putting it into their big mating orgy. yep.

How about goggles that seal to your face? Stylish and effective.

The gnats refered to in that article were a different kind
"“gnat” is an imprecise term referring to several species of small flies, most often the fruit flies of the family Trypetidae. " from “Why do clouds of gnats always hover around a fixed point in mid-air?” Unfortunately, these gnats are from the family Chloropidae.
On the goggles front, there are two problems with goggles:1. the neighbors would talk. 2. The temperature is high 80’s - 90’F so it would be a sweaty mess real quick.
