How do I get rid of this annoying toolbar?

Hi, I use google chrome and there is this annoying toolbar or whatever popping above my search results. I think it used to be on the left side which I’d ok with. Now it is above and just wastes my screen space and as it is absolutely useless I want to get rid of it. There are no options to move or modify it with right clicking. Check screenshot:

It’s part of the search results page. It’s not on your computer.

pat’s right. That’s part of the page Google serves you.

Right, but it used to be on the left side. Now it is on top. Does it change randomly?

Just sign-in to google.

It was changed two weeks ago.

I don’t see it (for now, anyway). I turn off JavaScript for Google.com.

ETA: I guess Google changed it because it thought it needed more blank whitespace on the right hand side of the screen?

A little off-topic, but it seems like websites are always changing their “look”, for no apparent good reason other than to keep the web designer nerds employed. I have rarely seen any improved functionality, and it requires learning what is where all over again. Bastards! ::shakes fist at the universe in general::

Nah, it’s all one big experiment, all the time.
