How do I get the online yellow pages to quit calling?

I answer the phone here at work and these people are driving me insane! The “online yellow pages” keeps calling to update our free listing. I’ve asked to be removed from their calling list no less than 4 times.

I’d like to strangle them!

But really - what can I do to get them to quit calling?

haha, I remember those guys, annoying ****ers aren’t they? I told them, after several attempts to have the business I worked for removed and telling them we weren’t interested and just hanging up, etc, that we had implemented a new service charge for our customers and I was going to have to bill them by the minute for every call they made to us, anytime they called I just immediately asked them for a credit card number that we could charge. They hadn’t called in well over a month when I left that job :smiley: (this was a few years back, though, so who knows how long it lasted)

The thing is it’s not an update, it’s a dishonest sales pitch. At some point after verifying the information they mention they will be listing your information in the book as you requested and bill you.

Tell them to put you an their do not call list. Next time they call after that, report them to whatever place deals with this in your state. Possibly your state’s attorney general.

I believe in being polite. After all they have a job just like I have a job.
But**** When they are rude to me then all bets are off. And it usually takes them 10 seconds to ignore something I have said.

If I am not bussy I play with them. Keep asking them to repeat what they have just said. Or I will miss quote what they have just said.

Then I end the call reminding them that started to be rude to me so I was haveing fun with them. When they deny being rude I remind them how they ignored what I had said earlier and they were wasting their time trying to make a sale to someone who did not trust them.

I ended up telling them that we will not update or verify ANY information over the phone and to mail a hard-copy if they want any information and we will review it first… and of course to remove us from their list.

They haven’t called again… yet.
