After about 7 years of growing out my hair, I’ve finally decided to cut it. I could also use some extra cash, so I figure I can do both things at once and sell my hair. It’s Brownish-Blonde, very healthy, and un-dyed. In all, I think I’ll be cutting about 15 inches. My questions are-
Are there any organizations or companies that buy hair, or would I be better off auctioning it off myself? I figure I can use Ebay as a last resort.
If you’re going to get a dramatic hair cut, consider donating to your hair to an organization that will make a wig out of it. Locks of Love uses real hair to create natural-looking wigs for children that have lost their hair. Hair must be at least 10 inches long. Wigs For Kids accepts hair to make wigs for children who have lost hair due to chemotherapy." http://www.givespot.com/todo/hair.htm
The Master speaks. According to him, you should stop washing your hair – after a couple months, it should be suitable for wigmaking. Plus you’ll have more hair to sell, so more money.
Let me second the Locks of Love idea-they do good work and it is harder than you think to find people who can donate 10 inches or more of undyed, unprocessed hair.
