So that the link shows only that particular post?
Thanks in advance.
Look at your post here. It’s #1 in the upper right hand corner. Click on that, it opens just that post, and cut and paste the URL. Does that make sense?
That makes such perfect sense, samclem, that I can only say the renewal fee is definitely worth it.
Who would’ve thunk clicking there?
Thanks.
Alternatively, my favorite way of doing it is to replace the “showpost” in the URL with “showthread”. This link brings up the entire thread, but with the specifed post at the top of your browser window. I like it 'cause it lets people catch up on the context of the post easier.
Bookmarked. Everything I’ve Ever Wanted To Know About Post-Linking But Was Afraid To Ask (EIEWTKAPLBWATA).
Frank’s trick works in IE but not in Firefox. I suggest using the documented method:
[****post=7398165]Hung Mung’s post[/post]
result:
[post=7398165]Hung Mung’s post[/post]
And if you want to see how any interesting effect was coded, just click on the reply button.
Note that in order to get the 7 digit PostID, put your mouse over the “Reply with Quote” button on the post you want to reference. When the mouse is over that button, you’ll see the PostID in the status bar in the bottom of the browser.
Huh. I didn’t know it was a browser specific exploit.
