As seen here, it’s the ‘sticking-out-the-tongue’ character in an emoticon. On a PC it’s ALT+222. How do I do it on a Mac?
For lowercase thorn (þ), either:
[ul]
[li]Switch to / enable Unicode Hex Input and type option+00fe[/li][li]Switch to Icelandic keyboard and press the key to the left of right shift [/li][li]Look it up in the character palette[/li][li]Copy and paste this: þ, or[/li][li]if posting to a message board like this one - type þ[/li][/ul]

How do I do that?
Instead of back-translating the necessary clicks I do on my non-english OS, I’ll just link to this random blogpost.
Check out the URL, btw, it has a ‘⌘’ in it and still works (on a Mac at least).
I don’t see the symbol in the URL. There’s a ? in it though. The page is blank.
Works on Firefox/Win2K, too.
It’s no Option-Shift-K, though.
Alt+0222, by the way. 222 gives this symbol (Right half block): ▐
ÞÞÞÞÞ
That’s strange. It should work in both Safari and Firefox.
Anyway, try
http://newmacuser.com/have-you-ever-wanted-to-have-an-⌘-command-key-in-you-text/
instead. It’s the same link but the offending character is escaped.
?? þ
Thanks.
Edit: Those question marks are supposed to be an Apple and the Command Key logo. They appeared in the text box, but they turned into question marks when I posted.
Back in my Mac using days there was a very useful freeware application called Popchar. click on an icon in the menubar, it lets you a popup menu of all characters in the current font, and you can select the one you want . Very handy for inserting accented letters or special characters, etc.
A brief Googling shows it’s now shareware, but you might still be able to find the free version.
It might be the link to Popchar lite on this site, but I’m a windows user now, and I’m not certain.

Alternatively, find a webpage with the character that you are intersted in (like say, this current discussion) and copy and paste it from there
