I need to move my uncle’s website from his existing host to a new one. Is at as simple as transferring the data (which isn’t much) from one ftp site to another? Also, can you recommend a good, but inexpensive company?
You’ll need to go to your current host control panel and change the nameserver entry to the nameserver(s) of the new host, then transfer your data. It will take two to three days for the new DNS information to propagate. Untill then, you’ll need to access your site by IP address.
often, your new provider can do the work of cutting over DNS. And yes, you’ll ftp it off, and ftp it to the new site.
