I have to meet a lady in a couple of days’ time. Her surname is Andruchow. She is certainly from Eastern Europe. I believe she is Polish, but I may be wrong.
To be polite, I’d like to say her surname properly. My instinct is to say Ann-droo-kov. Is that correct?
If it’s Polish, and there are no diacritics in the spelling that you left out, it would be
[an ˈdru xɔf].
Edit–I googled it, it is Polish, and in fact there was an acute accent over the o that you omitted from Andruchów… making its pronunciation
[an ˈdru xuf].
Thank you, Johanna.
I took the name from the plate outside her office, and it had no accent. However, that may reflect some inability of the sign maker.
