How do I remove caramel from the pages of a book?

I threw a book in to my bag recently, forgetting I had an open chocolate bar in there. Anyways, the chocolate and caramel became stuck to some of the pages of the book. The chocolate was easily removed, but the caramel not. How can I get it out?

Try sticking the book in the freezer. When the carmel freezes, it may remove as one solid piece.

If it was me, I’d get to work with a damp sponge or rag–the caramel will dissolve in water, so the trick is to use just enough water to dissolve the caramel without warping the pages.

First, I’d go with Papermache Prince’s suggestion; freeze the book as cold as possible and try to remove any pieces you can. This works with gum and some adhesives.

If that doesn’t work, I’d go the opposite way; heat the book up (carefully!!!) to soften the caramel and then try to lift it off with a razor blade.

Personally, I’d lick it off.

As long as nobody was watching.

Put an old towel over the page in question and then rub a hot iron over the towel.
