How do I replace a windowsill?

My dog chewed up the corners on two of my windowsills. I have not been able to find any pre-made ones. Is this something we will have to cut down ourselves? They are the kind that stick out like a shelf and have rounded edges.

Is the house construction timber-frame or masonry?

Is it (the sill) built into the wall? If so, you’ll have trouble getting it replaced without having to redecorate too. But, generally, a sill board is just a flat piece of timber (say 19mm deep) cut to whatever depth the reveal of the window requires, plus an overhang of, say 25mm. You would need to buy the timber and cut this to suit the window opening rather than expect to buy a proprietary sill. Then stain or paint as necessary.

Yes, it’s just a sill board. I guess Mr. Kiger will be getting some new tools. He’ll be thrilled. He probably coerced the dog to chew them up in the first place since he’s been wanting to replace them with hardwood. :dubious:

Maybe a picture of it would make it easier for us to determine what to do? Im sure Home Depot has a solution but you’d have to bring them a photo too.
