How do I report a post?

It looks like I can flag an entire thread, but not an individual post.

Under the post is three dots. Click it to expand the toolbar and show the flag button.

It still isn’t clear to me where those reports go. As I understood it, those go to an auto-mod-bot, who tallies up reports and metes out punishment to users who get too many. At what point do those reports actually go to a real live moderator?

Also, I haven’t actually tried reporting a post yet. Do you get the option to type in your complaint in your own words, or are you limited to just checking one of the bubbles there?

My understanding is that the"Off Topic," “Spam” or “Inappropriate” options just send a generic report. If you choose “Something Else,” you can enter an explanation.

Would a mod like to chime in on their preference if we believe a post is against the rules? Should we go with Inappropriate so you can easily classify the reports, or Something Else so we can explain why we think it’s against the rules, and maybe tell a joke or something?

They go to real life mods. What you’re thinking about is Community Moderation, which is a related but different thing. I think that’s been turned off, but either way, the mods see the reports and get to accept them as valid or not.

I made a report to request a topic be moved to a different forum. Loach got back to me and said he’ll look into it. So the reports do actually go to a moderator.

Same here. I reported a post and got an acknowledgement back from Loach. Our board mods are receiving and acting on reports.

In fact now we all see all reports. We pick and choose the ones from our forums to mod. That may be tweaked further down the road but it works for now.
