How do I search the net for views of musical scores?

I can go to the library of the local Big Ten school, I suppose, to take out the score of a Mozart quartet. Or, I could purchase a score, at a store or on-line. However, is it there a way for me to search for, and see that from home at the computer? Are there engines other than Google that can find it if it’s there? Without having to search through 1000 entries first? Don’t know much about that type of research. Dopers, any help? thanks, xo, C.

p.s. - I’m painfully aware that the computer is not the place to read music - it takes a different type of reading to read a score and screens don’t do much justice.

I know you’re not asking specifically about Mozart, but his complete works are supposedly here. I googled “view Mozart score” which led to a posting about his completely works and the link.

Awesome. I’ve been away from music research far too long. Didn’t realize these things existed. Wonderful. Thank you both.

IMSLP: Free Sheet Music PDF Download is another site to try

Probably the biggest site is Project Gutenberg’s sheet music collection: http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Gutenberg:The_Sheet_Music_Project
