How do I tell Netflix NOT to send me a replacement DVD?

A few days before Thanksgiving, Netflix mailed me disc one of The Cure: Trilogy. It took almost ten days to arrive, and was snapped right in half. I asked for a replacement disc (mail time: 5 days) and the 2nd copy was so badly scratched that I didn’t even want to risk putting it in my DVD player. So I asked for yet another copy (mail time: 2 days, not bad) and this one froze up two songs into the Disintegration set, accompanied by loud squeals and twangs from my player (not uncommon, but louder than usual!) Dejected, I asked Netflix for an unprecedented FOURTH copy.

This was on Friday. By yesterday, I’ve figured out that the DVD is fine, it’s in fact my Toshiba player slowly gasping its last breath. Thing is, Netflix hasn’t even mailed replacement #4 yet, it’s listed as “Shipping Tuesday” which means it’s certainly coming from a distribution center thousands of miles away in Podunk, Nebraska and probably won’t arrive until this Friday or Saturday! Obviously, I’d like Netflix to cancel that one and ship the next goddamn item in my queue. But I can’t find any such option on the website…not even an email address or phone number!

Has anyone else been in this situation? What did you do about it?

Yeesh. Way to act like a bunch of trolls, people.

In case anyone cares, I did manage to track down the Netflix customer service # (which I never would have found except for the time my account got temporarily suspended a few months back) and after navigating the world’s worst menu system ever, explained my story to an agent who readily agreed to send me a one-time freebee disc. Unfortunately it was too late to cancel the Cure disc shipment (and it’s coming from Gaithersburg, MD which means it might arrive before Xmas) but the free disc appears as a button on my queue page which I can click and activate at any time. It’s actually quite cool.

Oh, and the number is 1-800-290-4518 (in case anyone does a search on this topic, don’t want the 'Dope to let them down!)

I thought the first numbers given were the correct numbers (US and another country), sorry. I likely wouldn’t have wasted your time with another joke if I had known they were jokes too.

Just verified that KlondikeGeoff’s number works. Answered as Netflix customer service.

I seem to recall that one of the options when you report a damaged disk is simply to select the option of not having a replacement of the same movie sent. I can’t seem to find the page without going through the process of reporting one of my current movies as damaged, and I don’t want to erroneously describe something as damaged.

Am I wrong about this? Perhaps they have changed it.

What would have happened if you just immediately sent it back? Netflix should think you’re all happy and done with it, and all should be well with your Q.

This is true, however there’s no option to change your mind if you decide you don’t want a replacement disc after all.

Ok, well that just leaves iamthewalrus as the mystery answer. (It’s certainly not an international phone number…)

Sorry I blew my top earlier, I had just gotten off the phone with Adelphia about the 100th cable problem in the last three months…would you believe, they’re doing construction work which knocks out the cable for six hours every night, and NO ONE IN THE WHOLE COMPANY KNOWS how long this will go on!!! Aiiigghhh!! [/me sticks fork in left eyeball.]
