How do I turn off a web page's crappy music?

I’m doing some research and the site I need to read for a while has crappy MIDI music.I’ve gone through in the options/advanced menu in IE, and unchecked the box that says “play sounds on a webpage”, but it still plays the sounds.

Of course, I could just turn the sound off, but I’ve just ripped Outkast to my hard drive and if I don’t hear the supercool musical stylings of Andre 3000 then I shall despair.

If the crappy music is a midi, open your volume controls (Windows) and mute the SW Synth. That shouldn’t affect your MP3s, just midis.

If you’re using IE, try clicking the ‘Stop’ button.

On some pages that does the trick.
